Elementor Pro is the default answer to “I need this live by Friday”, and that is both the recommendation and the warning.
What it actually does
It replaces the editor with a drag-and-drop canvas, then extends that to the rest of the site through Theme Builder — headers, footers, archives, single templates and 404s, all editable without touching a template file. Around it sits a large widget library, a form builder with CRM integrations, and a popup builder with genuinely granular triggers.
What users complain about
Markup weight, consistently. The output is div-heavy, and a page assembled from many widgets carries CSS and JavaScript for all of them. Improved asset loading has narrowed the gap but not closed it, and on a content-heavy site you will be working to keep Core Web Vitals green rather than getting them for free.
The second complaint is exit cost. Content built in Elementor is stored as builder data, so moving away is a rebuild, not an export. That is worth pricing into the decision at the start rather than discovering in year three.
How it compares
Bricks produces markedly cleaner markup and is the common recommendation for performance-led builds, at the cost of a smaller ecosystem. Beaver Builder is more stable and less fashionable.
