The strongest reason to buy Pro is the combination of link management and maintenance. You can schedule a link, set an expiration action, forward URL parameters, add UTM templates, run split tests, and use geographic, device, browser, time-based, or rotating redirects. The automatic keyword-linking feature can insert affiliate links across existing content, while the affiliate disclosure option helps add disclosure notices to posts. These are practical features for a site with hundreds of articles, not just feature-list decoration.

Its analytics are also more useful than a basic redirect counter. BetterLinks documents total and unique clicks alongside referrer, timestamp, IP address, operating system, browser, and device information. Google Analytics integration and tracking-script support extend that reporting, although this is still WordPress-hosted analytics rather than a specialist attribution platform. It will tell you which short links receive clicks; it will not replace affiliate-network conversion reports or a full customer-data platform.

The Pro-only full-site link scanner is another real advantage. It can scan links across posts, pages, and custom post types, not only URLs created inside BetterLinks, and report active, broken, or forbidden links. Scheduled scans and email reports make it useful for publishers who would otherwise discover link rot manually. Where BetterLinks Pro is weak

The support forum also contains reports of analytics totals not matching scan counts, duplicated links causing an original copy to stop working, and a newer interface making links harder to view at a glance. A recent WordPress.org review specifically complained that batch masking is not supported.

There is also the familiar free-plugin friction: users have criticized the number of dashboard notices, upsells, and promotional prompts. BetterLinks has generally received strong support feedback, but the product is broad enough that its interface can feel busy. That makes it good value for active publishers and agencies, but excessive for a small site with a handful of redirects.
